With the help of ORFH and the development team, Yakima Neighborhood Health Services transformed the former Roy’s Market in Yakima into housing for up to 40 chronically homeless individuals. An Open House was held Feb. 15, 2019. The Center offers a resident manager and regular security patrols, as well as the services of two housing support specialists, transport to clinic services, and “home visits” from Neighborhood Connections. As a result of the security patrols, increased attention and community presence, a suspected drug house in the neighborhood has vacated! This development was funded by the Washington State Housing Trust Fund; Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines Affordable Housing Program; Yakima Federal Savings & Loan; United Way; Yakima Valley Conference of Governments; and owner equity. Architects: Robert Ferry and Don Poston, General Contractor: Kitt Construction.
